Love Working with Couples?
So Do We.
Join our Canberra-based team and help create meaningful change for relationships.
We’re looking for an experienced Couples Therapist, based in Australia, to join us at In Positive Health in our welcoming Canberra practice rooms.

About our Canberra practice...
Our clinic is co-owned by a psychologist and a speech pathologist and is located in a new boutique office space in Braddon—just behind the Canberra Centre. Clients have access to plenty of parking nearby, and some of Canberra’s best cafés are just around the corner.
At In Positive Health, we currently offer both Psychology and Speech Pathology services. We’re now looking for an Australia-based Couples Therapist—whether a psychologist, social worker, or counsellor—to join us. This role is ideal for someone who values the independence of private practice alongside the connection and support of a collaborative team.

Gottman Training
If you haven’t yet completed Gottman Method Level 2 training, you’ll need to be open to undertaking it in the near future, with a view to progressing to Level 3 and eventually Certification. Along the way, you’ll be supported through regular supervision and clinical guidance within our practice.
To be eligible for Gottman Certification, you must hold a graduate-level qualification in your discipline, be registered or licensed for independent practice, and maintain current registration or membership with your relevant professional body.
While we’re here to support your clinical development and offer guidance throughout the certification process, the cost of formal Gottman training will be the responsibility of the Associate.

We are looking for...
We’re seeking a Gottman-trained registered psychologist, accredited social worker, or registered counsellor to join our team at In Positive Health as an Associate.
This role is perfect for a clinician who values the independence of running their own private practice while enjoying the connection and support of a like-minded team. As an Associate, you’ll operate under the umbrella of our established practice name while maintaining the autonomy to shape your own couples caseload and build your own business.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for couples therapy to help us meet growing demand in this area. You’ll have completed at least Level 1 Gottman Method training (Level 2 or higher preferred), and be committed to progressing to Level 3 and Certification.
While we offer a steady flow of referrals and ongoing support, this opportunity is best suited to someone who is motivated to grow and sustain their own client base over time.
What do we offer?
You may have been working as an employee or contractor in a large private practice and are ready to create your own practice in Canberra.
We offer a Management Fee structure that includes a rental agreement plus access to reception facilities, and the ability to grow your practice.
The role includes:
- Boutique Office space in the CBD
- A fully-furnished, shared office space
- Access to virtual reception service
- Wi-fi, Microsoft365 email and cloud storage
- Kitchen facilities and large balcony space for staff
- Supervision and business development support as you move toward Level 3 and Gottman Certification
- Group practice referral opportunities

Availability and Flexibility
We currently have 3 weekdays available, but you’re welcome to start with fewer days and build up gradually. Weekend availability is also an option.
We also offer onsite monthly group clinical supervision.
A broad focus for us is strengthening relationships for our clients and amongst our team.

Our Shared Values
- Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence
- Fairness and Openness
- Love of learning
- Open communication
- Psychologically flexible relationships
