Workshop Details
Campbell MacBean is pleased to partner with the Relationship Institute Australasia (RIA) to deliver this accredited Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy training and support therapists on their certification journey.
RIA is the first and longest-standing organisation in Australia to offer accredited Gottman Method training and therapist certification. It is led by Trish Purnell-Webb and John Flanagan—both Certified Gottman Therapists, Advanced Clinical Trainers, and Consultants with The Gottman Institute.
This training will be presented by Gottman Level 1 Certified Trainers Campbell MacBean and Carole Simpson—both Psychologists, Clinical Supervisors, and Certified Gottman Therapists with extensive experience in couples therapy and clinical education.
Level 1 is an inspiring, research-based workshop designed for clinicians working with couples. Drawing on over four decades of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman involving more than 3,000 couples, this training introduces a practical, emotion-focused, and evidence-informed approach to couples therapy.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll gain a clear roadmap for helping couples manage conflict, deepen friendship and intimacy, and build shared meaning using the Sound Relationship House Theory. You’ll also learn:
-
Research-based strategies for assessing couples and guiding treatment
-
Tools to help partners understand and navigate perpetual conflicts
-
Techniques for processing fights and healing emotional wounds
-
Interventions to promote emotional connection and prevent relapse
Campbell and Carole are known for their engaging, down-to-earth training style that blends clinical expertise with warmth, humour, and real-world application. They create a safe, inclusive space for reflection, discussion, and hands-on learning—whether you’re new to couples work or looking to deepen your skills.
